Generic Brand ("Y" Me?)
I thought I'd chime in today to write about a queer experience I had the other day. No, this is not my virtual coming out, so just chill. When I say "queer" I mean it in the classic non-gay sense: weird, uncommon, notable, eerie...you get the picture.
I awoke one morning last week to find that I had been branded--or so it seemed. Lightly etched in my right arm, just around the outer portion of the bicep, was a perfectly symmetrical "Y" shape. This both scared and intrigued me. What the hell could have caused such a symbol to randomly appear on my arm? The symmetry of the mark is what disturbed me, as well as the fact that it stayed on there for almost a week before fading away. Typically indentations, caused by leaning on bed tables and the like, go away after an hour or so. Yeah, it could've been a spider bite or something, but it just seemed too perfect.
Tapping into the myserious, unconscious, and esoteric, I tried to come up with any meaning inherent in the letter "Y", but came up with nothing, other than the fact that A) It is the symbol for the male chromosome and B) It is the symbol for the vertical axis in mathematics. I later consulted my good friend Matt to pick his feverishly creative brain. He came up with a Mercedes sign...uh, thanks for that Matt.
So I am left clueless as to what it all means, if anything. If you have any insight you would like to share regarding this experience, by all means share away. In the meantime, I'll keep you posted if any other anomalous markings mysteriously materialize on my body. I know you'll wait with baited breath.
